Richard Baker

Richard Charles Baker.  Richard passed away on November 8, 2005 in a Houston, TX. hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Battle Creek, MI and was a resident of Katy, Texas at the time of his death.  On July 13, 1968 he married Sharon Kay Huddleston in Battle Creek.  He had lived in Katy since 1998, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Katy.  Richard was a 1970 graduate of Western Michigan University.  He taught middle school and high school plus coached football, basketball and track at Spencerville Public Schools in Spencerville, Ohio for 8 years.  Later he worked for David Stanton & Associates of Jackson, Michigan.  Richard worked in Lansing for 12 years, teaching at Holy Cross School in Lansing plus coaching high school football and baseball at Lansing Catholic Central.  Beginning in 1998, he taught and coached football and track with the Fort Bend Independent School District in Katy, TX.  His team was State Class C champion in 1996 and went to the final 4 in 1995 and 1997. He was a member of the Texas High School Coaches Associates.  Survivors included his wife of 37 years, Sharon Baker; children, Tara M. Baker, Ryan C. W. (Jandi) Baker, and Ross D. Baker; grandson, Tate Baker; his sisters, Cheryl (George) Scott and Marilou Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
