Jacquelyn Kay Blackmar (Stults)

      Jacquelyn Kay “Jackie” Blackmar Stults

Jackie passed away on November 10, 2023. She was a native of Battle Creek, Michigan and a resident of Kalamazoo. Following high school, she studied two years at Central Michigan University. After that, she and a girlfriend traveled to California where she began her long career in the legal profession. She returned to Kalamazoo to work at Brown, Coleman, and DeMent which later became Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, and she eventually retired in 2007. Jackie had many interests. Her dad, WJ, put a tennis racket in her hand at the age of six and she never put it down. Later in life, she transitioned into pickleball and developed a passion for golf. The friends she met in work and play lasted all her life. In retirement, Jackie volunteered with the West Michigan Cancer Center, American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, and Rose Arbor Hospice. Her long struggle with cancer never diminished her strong spirit, sense of humor, and love of life. Survivors included her loving family: her husband, Brian Stults, Sr.; her step-children, Karen Stults, Brian Stults, Jr., and Louise (Sheardy) Stults; and her grandchildren, Ben and Maddie Stults.

Jackie was a life long friend!  She fought her illness hard and always lived life to the fullest!  I'm sure she is celebrating with her friends and family gone before her. Condolences to those she left behind.

I knew Jackie from Verona and remember when she was in that terrible accident in fifth grade that killed "Corky" Stanfield.  Took awhile to heal from her injuries.  We had classes together through WK and Central.  She was always friendly and fun to talk with.  Only saw her after graduation at a couple of reunions. Still was the same person.  Glad to hear she enjoyed her family and life.  Very sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family.

Along with her many friends, I'm sorry to hear that she will no longer light up the room. She was kind to me when I needed it and in turn I remember helping her get through Chemistry.

Jackie and I lived in the same neighborhood growing up and saw each other regularly. We hung around a lot with a group of kids at Nancy Stanfield's after the tragic accident that killed Nancy's brother Corky. I especially remember how Jackie adopted one of the kittens from a litter born in our house. She loved Toby so much, and her stories about him fostered an ongoing sense of connection between us. In later years, we only saw each other at class reunions. She was so vibrant and lovely, and it was always a pleasure to see her and catch up a bit. My heart goes out to her family.

Jackie was a lot of fun to be around.  She lived next tdoor to my good friend Gerry Storey and as also mentioned, Corky.  She is part of some of the best memories of our lives that today we hang onto so dearly. Forever in our hearts, rest easyi Jackie.

Jackie & I didn't hang around together much at BCCHS.  But, what a shock to attend a class reunion and here stood my cousin Brian Stults ( who went to Lakeview ).  I asked him if he had crashed our party & replied no I was invited.  Really?  By who?  I married one of your classmates....Jackie!   So I did see Jackie at a few family events.  Rest in Peace Jackie.

Did get a chance to see her and catch up a bit for all the missed years at next to last reunion, the one at BC Country Club. She was the same cheerful outgoing wonderful person I met at WK. So sadden to learn of her passing.
