Gary Kubasiak

Gary Lee Kubasiak.  Gary passed away on March 14, 2009 at his home in Battle Creek.  He was a native of Battle Creek.  Gary was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the Army from 1966 to 1972. He worked at Coles Clothing Store from 1963 to 1977, and was a produce manager at Kroger from 1969 to 1977. He then moved to Alabama to work for Independent Retailers. He returned to Battle Creek in 1985 to work for Meijer, Inc. as a manager where he remained until July of 2008. He was very much loved and respected at work. Marriages to Margaret Baker and Sue Miller ended in divorce. On October 29, 1999 he married Judy Kerr Paton. Survivors included his wife, Judy; children: Tina (Kyle) Harrison, Paula Clark, Christina Kubasiak and Thomas Kubasiak; step-children: Heather Haskins and William Paton V; three grandchildren: Lexie and Kevin Harrison, and Gunnar Clark; four step-grandchildren: Christopher, Caitlin, Courtney and Nicholas Haskins; sister: Barbara (Dick) Willbrandt; brothers: Gene (Maria) Kubasiak, Chuck (Julie) Kubasiak and John (Annie) Kubasiak. Gary was a very loving husband, father, "papa" and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He loved spending time at his summer home at Waffle Farm Campground in Coldwater, Michigan; fishing for bass and bluegill, and having friends over for cookouts. He was loved by all that knew him, especially by his wife and family.
