Michael James Nelson.   Michael passed away on October 29, 2010 in Battle Creek. He was a native of Waverly, Iowa and had been a Battle Creek area resident since 1964. Before coming to Battle Creek, Michael was an all state athlete in football and basketball in Iowa. In Battle Creek, he worked as a chef at the Riverside Country Club. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors included his children, Billy, Micheline, James, Brian, Sean, Amy, Michael Jr., Joy and Luella; mother, Marian L. Grimes; brother, Steve Nelson; and a sister, Diane Courbat.
