Charles Sundberg

Charles Lee Sundberg.  Charles was killed on December 17, 1968 when his car struck a bridge abutment on Kansas Highway 18 between Ogden and Ft. Riley, Kansas.  Charles was a native of Battle Creek.  He had been employed at the Meijer Village Market, Urbandale Plaza, before enlisting in the Army in October 1966.  He also played drums with several dance band groups.  He had returned from Vietnam in April 1968 and was stationed at Ft. Riley.  He had returned to Ft. Riley a week before his death after visiting his family earlier in the month.  He was assigned to the 32nd Armored Division and was to have left in January 1969 for Germany.  In addition to his parents, Joseph N. and Mildred G (Bouchard) Sundberg, survivors included a brother Melvin J. Sundberg; a sister, Miss Charlene Sundberg; and grandmother, Mrs. Ida Sundberg.
