      Robert Lester “Les” Swafford

Robert passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center. He was a native of Dayton, Tennessee and a resident of Battle Creek, Michigan. He worked for Grand Trunk Railroad for 43 years until his retirement. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Les is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen. He also leaves his son Brandon (Niky) Swafford; his grandson, Evan; and his daughter-in-law, Tracey Swafford. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin B. Swafford in 2006, his parents; brother Leroy; and his two sisters, Rachel C. Morgan and Brenda King.

Lester was a great guy, as was his brother Leroy.  They had great parents who were always gracious to me.

 

Spent the summers during 7th and 8th grades hanging out with them at a swimming hole on the Battle Creek river, across from Bailey Park.
