Alva Wilkins (Hall)

Alva Lois Wilkins Hall.  Alva passed away at her home in Battle Creek on March 25, 2006.  She was a native of Charleston, Missouri.  She married Charles Edward Hall in 1967.  Alva resided in Davenport, Iowa 1967-1969 and Carbondale, Illinois 1969-1978.  In 1973, she received an Associate degree in Early Childhood Development from John Logan College in Carterville, Illinois.  In 1983, she received an Associate Degree in Human Services from Kellogg Community College and in 1986 Alva received her Bachelor Degree in Social from Nazareth College.  Alva enjoyed her career as a social worker at Summit Pointe for many years.  She was previously employed at the Ft. Custer State Hospital and the Erma C. Hayes Child Care Center in Carbondale, Illinois.  Alva enjoyed reading, writing, bowling and traveling.  Her most favorite times were spent going to church where she served on the usher board.  She had volunteered at Safe Place in Battle Creek.  Survivors included sons: Douglas Edward Hall and Earl Quincy (Corrine) Hall; 2 step-sons, 4 step-daughters; special son: Carl Grevious; brothers: Alex (Edna) Wilkins, Jr. and Clarence (Gretta) Wilkins; sisters: Gloria Coleman, Jeanette Wilkins, Linda (Don) Woodward and Debra Wilkins; special sisters: Donna McKnight, Jennie Darnell, Sharon Myers and Ruby Armstrong; special mothers: Hazel Moss, Erline Mason and Dessie Fullerton; special friend: Gwen Hansen; special daughter: Precious Gordon; 8 grandchildren.  Alva was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hall (1984); brothers: George Johnson and Melvin Wilkins; sisters: Vickie Jefferson and Hazel Hull.
