Janis Kaye Babcock Cox 

Janis passed away in Battle Creek, Michigan on August 12, 2018. She was a native of Battle Creek and was also a resident of Battle Creek at the time of her death. Besides Michigan, Janis had also lived in Florida and Oregon. Janis left BCCHS before her senior year and married the late Gerald Elston, with whom she had four children. Janis later married the late Dennis Cox and they had one child. She loved watching movies and the Young and the Restless. She enjoyed listening to music, especially the Beatles, Elvis and Janis Joplin. But most of all, Janis loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors included her five children: Laura Rathbun, John Elston, Lisa Young, Richard Elston and Steven (Kriss) Cox; her sister, Glenda Jones; her grandchildren, Heather (Mark) McNees, Travis Smith (Sasha Love), Ashley Rathbun (Bill Smith) Lindsey (Matt) Wabindato, Taylor Cox, Jaylen Cox, Logan Cox and Carter Young; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to the fathers of her children, Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred (nee Burger) Babcock-McIntyre and Melvin Babcock.
