Occupation: Retired
Children: Meka, born 1972
Comments:

I started working at Michigan Bell Telephone in Battle Creek in 1967, I re-located to Grand Rapids in January 1974. In November 1978 I transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone in Dallas, Texas. I was in Dallas when I retired in November 2008 after 40 years of service with AT&T. During my last 15 years at AT&T they tried to turn me into a computer nerd. I was System Administrator of the Emergency 9-1-1 system. Our team was responsible for the network, hardware, and software of the system as well as maintaining the integrity of he database. We were responsible for accurate information being transmitted and received on 9-1-1 calls for 6-states (TX, OK, AR, KS, MO, and CT).

I was very active in the African American, and Hispanic employee resource groups at AT&T. I was the first African American to become President of the Hispanic organization in the Southwest. I also served for several years on the board of the African American organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I have traveled to a few of the world’s interesting cities just for the adventure and for pleasure. Some of those places: Paris, France (twice), Madrid, Spain and London, England. Johannesburg and Capetown in South Africa. In Mexico I visited Mexico City (twice), Acapulco (twice), Cuernavaca, and Cabo San Lucas. In Costa Rica I visited San Jose, and Papagayo. I also made a few stops in South America; Bogota, Colombia; Salvador Bahia and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I visited Rio 12 times. Copacabana Beach in Rio is my favorite spot in the world. I also visited Buenos Aires, Argentina. I had fun in Jamaica, and The Bahamas. I visited Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. I have been to Hawaii. I’m waiting for my chance to visit Cuba. While I was working I traveled coast-to-coast, border-to-border across the US for conferences, meetings, and training.

Since retirement I'm learning to hit golf balls and traveling. I don't get excited about foreign travel as much these days. One day per week I work with the Talking Book Program. What this program does is repair cassette players and digital audio devices that read books for the disabled or visually impaired. This is volunteer work through the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Junior High School attended (NW, SE, SW, WK or other)

WK

What you shared with us in 2005:

I am still working with 37 years seniority at SBC Communications. I enjoy traveling the world, roller skating and playing the guitar.

Hello Robert, I apologize for that spam email. Apparently I let my guard down and my email account was hacked. Several of my friends have contacted me about an email that I did not send. I'm still trying to get my email account straightened-out.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Take care,
Nate

I was in several classes with Linda during our time at BCCHS. I thought Linda was a very sweet girl/young lady. May she be resting peacefully in heaven. ??

I remember Mike from elementary school at Ann J Kellogg. I remember Mike as being very smart and a gifted artist/illustrator. Mike would create comic book type stories and illustrate the scenes of the story. We would also put-on puppet shows at his house. I believe Mike went-off to Northwestern Jr High and I went to WK so I don’t remember anything about him after elementary school. Mike was a friend of mine in elementary school and I have often wondered where-he-was and whatever happened to him. Sorry for the loss to the family. ???? “RIP Mike Sollner and Daughter” ??

One photo below is the official document I received from the United States Patent and Trademark office notifying me that I had been granted the patent. The other photo is the utensil that I was granted the patent for. This utensil makes eating "crab legs" easier.

Some of my oldest and fondest memories of BC is living next door to the Pulley family on Kalamazoo St before it became Jackson St. We had lots of fun as 9 & 10 year old kids. R.I.H. Cheryl . . .broken heart

Happy Birthday Mike!! Were you really born in 1948? If that info is accurate, how does a person born in the middle of 1948 become a member of the class of 1965? Anyway no matter what year you were born make it a great day . . .

I'd like to "Congratulate" the committee for pulling together a fabulous weekend for our 50th Class Reunion; I had a fabulous weekend in BC. I was able to reconnect with classmates, old acquaintances, and make new friends. I hope the classmates that I did not see during the weekend are well. I was at the "Welcome Mixer", "The School Tour", and "Oh What A Night". Looking-out at the quiet/peaceful lake from the patio on that clear night was priceless. God gave us great weather the entire weekend.. I also had big fun on the dance floor on Saturday night. At 68 years-of age I was partying hardier than I did at 18 years-of-age 1965. I would like to have attended the "Farewell Brunch" however I had never played a-round-of golf in BC and was determined to do so (if at all possible) and could not attend both events. Thanks to Bill Ragla for arranging the tee-time at Riverside Country Club. Only 6 players showed-up at the "Golf Outing" (that was one more than I expected) however the number of players didn't matter to me; I just wanted to play. I'd like to thank Annette Evans and Mike Doyle for the gifts presented to me for being a very small part of the committee. Until we can all get together again I wish everyone "Good Health and Peace".

Hey Mike, it's your day. Make today be whatever you want it to be. Even though both of our birthdays are in July we were born under different Zodiac signs. I"m a "Moon Child" and you're a "Leo". HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Happy Birthday! I assume you'll be on the golf course most of today celebrating another year? Enjoy the day, whatever you're doing. I'm sure you'll have a GRAND day. July was a good month for birthdays; mine is in 6 days!
