Robert James Breslin Jr

      Robert James "Bob" Breslin Jr.

Bob passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. He was a native of Battle Creek, Michigan and a resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Bob honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970. His tours included basic training at Lackland AFB and subsequent assignments to Myrtle Beach AFB Wing Operations and Phu Cat Vietnam AFB as a Military Policeman. A Vietnam War Veteran, Bob was humble in respect to his military service, but always regarded his time served with sincere devotion. After his military service, he had an established career of 38 years in the banking and insurance industry, eventually retiring in 2008. Many life-long friends and relationships were formed during that time. Bob is remembered, and often described, as being a kind and generous soul. He knew how to make people feel special. A thoughtful and loving figure to his family, a fun-loving and loyal friend to all. He rarely met a stranger, always quick to make conversation. He loved to pull off a good surprise and make people laugh. Bob was very athletic and could easily engage in most sports, but baseball and softball were his favorites. He was a standout on the field and eventually gifted his talents to coaching Shannon’s softball team. When he wasn’t coaching, he could be found at every game cheering and supporting all his girls, even throughout their college years. Survivors included his daughter – his “Munchkin”, Shannon Depiesse (Missy Durante); his family: sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Verlyn Ruger; niece and nephew, Claralyn and Daniel Ruger and great-niece, Rhianna Ruger; and other dear relatives, loyal friends, and caring neighbors who all share in the sorrow of missing him. In addition to his parents Robert J. Sr. and June (Hill) Breslin, Bob was preceded in death was his loving wife of 36 years, Janis Breslin. Follow the link below to view Bob’s full obituary.
