Every year in the fall at BCCHS, Dick and I became closer friends. We played a crucial role in the success of the Bearcat football team. We were on the first string team of the Suicide Squad. That meant Coach Finn relied on our team to do our best to stop the first string offense team. Our Suicide Squad wasn't the best of the defensive players; we were the most expendable! Dick and I and the rest of the Suicide Squad didn't see all that much action on game night, but if we did a good job during practice, it would mean our starters were probably going to be successful and BCCHS would come home with another WIN.

I remember having so much fun being a teammate with Dick. He was always smiling and having a good time. None of the Suicide Squad was all that big or fast, but Dick had guts and grit. He would sacrifice himself for the good of the team. Suicide Squad teammates had a special appreciation of each other. Then on game nights, we did our best to cheer on the starters knowing that we did our best during the practice week to prepare our team for victory. There were many ways to support our Bearcat team.

Dick, I'm real glad we were teammates at BCCHS.  RIP.
