Russell passed away on July 9, 2022 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a resident of Battle Creek, Michigan. Russell was active in Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout and active in the Order of the Arrow. Then, he proceeded in having two children, Tara Blackburn (born 1972) and Phillip Masten (born 1974). This marriage ended in divorce. He then married Vicki J Goodenough and had a daughter, Danielle Lin (died 1982). This marriage also ended in divorce. In December of 2001, Russell married Julie Hobbs. Russell adopted Caleb Anthony and raised him through football, wrestling practices and rarely missed a game or match. Caleb was welcomed into Russell’s family with open arms. Russell retired from United Steel and Wire in 2007. He always enjoyed High School sports and watching football, basketball and baseball on television. He loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russell was a gentle soul and loved by many. I'm sad to hear about Russell's passing. I was in kindergarten with Russel and went all through school with him. Russel was a very sweet guy. Sorry for his loss.

Russell was a big kid, but never one to try and intimate anybody.  I went through Verona, WK, and Central with him.  He seemed quiet, but always nice. Very sorry for his family.
