Larry Max Ostrander

Larry passed away on March 19, 2024 at home in Palmetto, Florida with his family present and under Hospice Care after a long battle with cancer. In 1969, Larry married Patricia Ball/Needham. He married Sandra Mears in 1984 and Dawn Tupper in 2000. Larry lived in Battle Creek, Michigan for most of his life with the exception of living in Melbourne and Homosassa, Florida and Irmo, South Carolina from 1999 to 2010. Larry and Dawn then spent winters in Palmetto, Florida. Larry co-owned Rafter’s Bar, and worked at Packer Foods and Kellogg’s – all in Battle Creek. After retirement, he worked at Terra Ceia Bay Country Club in Palmetto, Cedar Creek Golf Course in Battle Creek, and Sugarmill Woods Golf Course in Homosassa. He was a member of the Kellogg’s 25 Years Club. Larry loved spending time with his wife Dawn, working in the yard and gardening, watching his grandkids play sports, listening to loud music and being the DJ, attending music festivals, walking the beach looking for beach glass, golfing, and having cocktails with family and friends. Larry always was fun to be around and always had a joke up his sleeve. Even in his last few days he joked with his family and the hospice nurses. Larry loved his family and memories will be cherished by them all! Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, nephew and friend. Survivors included his loving wife Dawn; daughter, Danielle (Reid) McCowan; sons: Tim (Dorina) Ostrander, Jason (Rachel) Tupper, and Troy (Carolin) Ostrander; grandchildren: Kailee Overby, Milla Ostrander, Lucas Ostrander, Sam Ostrander, Caden Overby, Jayce McCowan, Carmine Tupper, Benjamin Ostrander and Julian Ostrander; great grandson, Weston Elliott; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother Garry Ostrander.
