Robert Allen 'Bob' Pyatte

Robert Allen 'Bob' Pyatte

Robert Allen ‘Bob’ Pyatte.  Bob passed away in his home on August 1, 2026. He was a native of Battle Creek, Michigan and resident of Battle Creek, Michigan. He was the beloved brother of Julianne Ventura, Suzanne Pyatte, Jane Pyatte and Barbara Pyatte. While attending Western Michigan University, Bob served in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. He had two children, Jayne and Stephen, with his first wife, Judy Ann Warren Pyatte, who preceded him in death. He was employed by the Kellogg Company for over 45 years and served in many capacities in Battle Creek, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Sydney, Australia. His work skills carried into his personal life. He seemed able to do most anything he put his mind to and was an extraordinary handyman. Those who loved him knew him to be truly the life of any party. He was endlessly funny and fun-loving. He delighted his grandchildren with silly faces. They adored him and have many wonderful memories of him. He was married to Laurie on August 7, 2004. He and Laurie enjoyed traveling and had an adventurous life pursuing their many interests. It began with birdwatching but eventually encompassed many other things. They spent much of their retirement years in their RV exploring the country and returning often to favorite places in California and Oregon. Church was an important part of their lives and they attended a Christian church wherever they were. They missed the close involvement they had with their home church, but they developed friendships at churches they frequented in their travels and found it to be an enriching and valued experience. In Battle Creek they attended Woodland Church where Laurie was a member. They moved to Hawaii in 2013 and bought a home on the Big Island where they spent winters and continued to enjoy an active lifestyle. Bob is survived by his wife, Laurie Pyatte, his daughter, Jayne Gendreau (Steven), his son, Stephen Pyatte (Courtney), his grandchildren Jayne Gornish (Brad), Jacquelyn Gendreau, Adelyn Pyatte, Jacob Pyatte and his great-grandson Noah Gornish; his stepchildren Jason Heindel (Andrea), Megan Hancock (Jack), Erin Lee (Donnie) and his step-grandchildren, Jakob Heindel, Misha Heindel and Gage Hancock. All of them will remember him with love and miss having him in their lives. Follow the link below to view Bob’s full obituary.

Met Bob in 7th grade. Bob was a good friend, had a great sense of humor and he was also a pretty good artist. Condolences to his family.

We were life long friends with Bob and his first wife Judy Warren Pyatte, raised our kids together and stayed friends through many good times and hard times.  We were fortunate enough to spend time with him and his wife Laurie these past several years.  He was like a brother to us and my kids referred to him as "Uncle Bob".  We will miss his sense of humor and his friendship.
