      Thomas Claude West

Tom passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Battle Creek, Michigan, his home town and residence. After graduation from high school, Tom started to learn his trade with his father's company before beginning his career as a plumber, working in the Battle Creek area for many years. Tom loved to fish and golf. He loved to travel to Northern Michigan and to his brother's home in beautiful Ontario, Canada, as well as golfing in Phoenix in the winters. Tom cheered on the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, and even the Lions. When his children were younger, he helped coach their little league teams at Wattles Park Men's Club. Tom loved to spend time with his family and friends and help them out whenever he could.  Survivors included his three children, Kimberly (Jose Miguel) Sanchez, Kari (Tim) Castleberry, Thom (Andrea) West; four grandchildren, Sage and Maya Castleberry, Ashely (Adam) Peck, Emily St. John, former wife and special friend, Lou Ann Tuller and a newly found brother, Lewis (Jean) Palmer. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters Kathryn and Kassandra West and his former wife, friend and high school classmate, Beverly Stockwell Laitila.

Tom was a great friend to many of us in High School as was his long time girlfiend Bev Stockwell. Tom had scar our senior year and was very generous transporting us everywhere. Often Bev would be along as well. I’m sure she got tired of all the guys. So sorry to hear they are both gone. Only great memories.

Always enjoyed running into Tom, over the years, we had great times just talking and laughing about our lives, both good and bad times.  Each time we met was a time to remember and look ahead to tomorrow.  Tom was a great plumber and helped me out many times, his skill and laughter will be missed.  Each of us will remember the good times.

So sad to hear about Tom's passing.  Known to some of us as "Weed", he was a good friend to all and always ready for a good time.

Weed was a great friend. Never forget his gray Chevy convertible with a black top. Many a good time shared with all the guys. Sad to see Tom and Bev have both passed. Kinda makes me take a pause and reflect knowing our lives can change in a heart beat. Sorry I never got one more chance to share the good times. RIP my friend.

Tom was such a part of my school years. Although he will be missed it sounds like he had a happy fulfilled life and that is wonderful. Truly, a wonderful guy!

Knew Tom since elementary at Post a School. Used to do overnights at each other’s house. His mom and dad were the best. Lost touch after high school but knew he and Bev had a special thing. Good to know he did Life Recovery. He found true joy.  God bless his family as they mourn his passing.
