       Steven Lee Wirth

Steve passed away on May 21, 2024. He was and had been a resident of Rochester, New York since the mid-1970s. Among his life’s endeavors, Steve was an eagle scout, Vista volunteer, carpenter, master cabinet maker, talented artist, great cook, accomplished gardener, avid golfer, voracious reader, mentor, wonderful husband, parent and grandparent, and good friend to everyone he met. To honor Steve: Be kind and helpful to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. Make something beautiful. Mentor a young person. Plant something. Get outdoors and exercise. Visit an art gallery. Cook a great meal. Read a good book. Wherever you go and whatever you do, dress impeccably, be generous with your time and patience, and always leave things better than you found them. Survivors included his brothers, Douglas and Mark; his stepchildren, Patricia, Jeffrey, Brian, and Suzanne; 9 grandchildren; and his Rochester Metro YMCA family. He was predeceased by his wife, June, in 2018. Follow the link below to view Steve’s full obituary.

You will be missed, Steve. I have wonderful memories of growing up with you, at school, at church, and in the neighborhood. I'm so happy to learn you led a full, enriching life, but not surprised. Sadness reigns.

Steve was such a nice guy! He was just like his father.  I had Mr. Wirth at WK and then got to know Steve in high school. He treated everyone the same. Never heard him raise his voice or get riled up.  Smart. Decent. Upstanding. We need more like him, but now there is one less.

Very sorry for his family.  They have lost a great role model. My condolences to each of them.

I do not believe that I had ever talked with Steve while at Central. I did know that he was a tall, well dressed and intelligent individual. My condolences to his family for his passing.

I just learned of Steve's death.  I am so sorry about it.  Steve was a great guy and a good friend.  Always soft spoken and I never heard him say anything bad about anyone.  I am sorry that I could not continue our friendship after we graduated.  I am sure he is missed by his family and friends.  He was a really nice guy, like his father who taught me so much about math.

Very sorry to hear of Steve's passing.  I seem to remember he was President of our Student Council, Senior year, and he did a great job!  He was very kind and always had a ready smile. It was a privilege to know him. What a wonderful and giving life he led.
Prayers to his family.
